The small village of Keanae has a long, rich history going all the way back to the mythic origins of ancient Hawaii.  However, most of what you find on the peninsula today was built recently, after the 1946 tsunami that leveled everything on the peninsula.  The only structure left standing was a church built in 1860, all from lava rock.  Be sure to snap a picture as you soak in the relaxed feel of Keanae, the official start of the Hana Coast.
