It’s true that most activities on Maui can be enjoyed just fine in flip-flops or no shoes at all.  However, if you head out for your day on the Road to Hana with no footwear but slippers (as the locals call them) chances are you will miss out on quite a few things.  Throw a pair of close-toed hiking or walking shoes in the car with you.  That way you will be able to navigate the short hikes required to get to some of the Road to Hana’s most spectacular waterfalls.  Also, think about bringing a pair you don’t mind getting wet – our experience has been that you will probably find yourself walking through water at some point. Check out Hana Picnic co for all your Road to Hana needs.
