There is beautiful bamboo all along the Road to Hana. If you drive the Hana Highway, you are guaranteed to see green stalks of bamboo. However, the best way to experience a true bamboo forest in to hike the Pipiwai Trail, located just above Oheo Gulch. Nothing else can touch the experience of walking through towering bamboo trees. If you don’t have enough time to get all the way to the Pipiwai Trail, there is a smaller, but still breathtaking, bamboo forest located between mile markers 6 and 7, just after Twin Falls. Just one tip: If you stop there, be sure to use some mosquito repellent – you’ll be glad you did!
