If you’ve never seen a bamboo forest, don’t skip the Pipiwai Trail on the Road to Hana. It’s located just above O’heo Gulch, and the bamboo forest is towards the end of the trail just before a spectacular waterfall. Bamboo is not actually native to Maui, but is known for flourishing wherever it is planted. Hiking a trail through towering stalks of bamboo is truly otherworldly.
